My view
Dead Poets society is Peter Weir's second movie and is known as one of the greatest feel-good movies of all time. 
There are some movies that, if you watch them for the first time at the right age it will mould and inspire you. Dead Poets Society is undoubtedly one of them. 

Even though the movie was released in 1989, the topic it discussed still has a great importance in the present day.


The story takes place at a boarding school where students are like broilers and are taught nothing except textbook stuff. John Keating (Robin Williams) portrays an English teacher who has a different perspective from other teachers there. He believes that schools must also be platforms to learn and live life instead of just following an already written algorithm.
Ethan Hawke portrays Todd Anderson, a bright and ambitious student who dreams of being an actor one day.

The movie shows the importance of practical studying rather than the bookish one. A trend can be seen especially in India that the parents decide the career and future for their children. After watching the movie we will understand that letting the children persuading their dreams is the right thing to do. Otherwise, they won't be able to make a decision in the future. The difficulties faced by every teen in deciding his/her career is correctly portrayed.

You'll love the cinematography by John sale and the music by Maurice Jarre flows perfectly with the story.

You can watch the movie in any mood especially when you're feeling down. I'm sure it'll at least cheer you up.

Dystopian times (unabridged)

I read '1984' by George Orwell a few years back. I could only read up to 70% of it for some reason. In the first chapter, the protagonist secretly writes a journal entry as a sort of protest, or a way of telling his story to future generations. Thankfully, we're not there yet, but I imagine sooner or later, we as a collective world will reach that level of dystopia.
